Emily Lafeber
Founder and Clinical Director, Registered Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Emily! It was apparent to me from a very young age that I wanted to pursue a career in counselling. It wasn’t until I got diagnosed with IBS and Crohn’s that I began directing my career towards helping others navigate similar struggles. Through my personal experiences, I am able to provide compassionate and empathetic supports from a unique perspective, which allows me the ability to connect with my clients on a much deeper level. Combined with my extensive education and training, I am also involved with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada (CCC) and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) including advocacy campaigns such as Voices for Change and World Cancer Day. More recently, I have taken on the role of Advocacy Constituency Team Lead with CCS to help make cancer care better at the government level.
As someone who suffers from several autoimmune disorders and chronic illnesses, I know firsthand how important it is to have proper mental health support and interventions. I work collaboratively with individuals to regain control of their lives through various evidence-based practices that encourage self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-development.
My goal is to create a warm, supportive atmosphere where you feel comfortable to gain new skills, insight, and learn to shift your perspectives to one of growth and healing. So kick back and relax, find a comfy spot in your home, grab a cup of coffee or tea & let’s help you Blume into a better version of yourself today!

Avery Maxwell
Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Avery! I’m a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Through a combination of various approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution-focused, and strengths-based approaches — we collaborate to identify the support and resources that best align with your needs. I completed my master’s degree at the University of Toronto, where I focused on supporting adolescents, teenagers, and their families – however, I support clients of all ages as they journey through life transitions, mental health challenges, and health changes. I have spent several years working with clients facing a cancer diagnosis and providing individual and group counselling for them and their loved ones. I have worked closely with various oncology support networks, including cancer treatment centres and support programs. Navigating your own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a loved one, can be incredibly challenging, and it can be hard to find a therapist who understands the way cancer and treatment impact who you are – even after treatment ends.
I understand the intersection of a cancer or chronic illness diagnosis and everyday life challenges, including relationship stress, body image, life transitions, and mental health. Through my practice, I strive to provide an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and seen. Together, we will explore the challenges you face, develop new coping strategies, and build on the strengths you already have.

Jessica Thibault
Holistic Nutritionist and Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner (ROHP)
Jessica Thibault is a Holistic Nutritionist and Registered Orthomolecular Health Practitioner (ROHP) with the International Organization of Nutritional Consultants (IONC). She combines orthomolecular medicine, which uses natural substances like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, with holistic nutrition to support health and prevent illness. Her approach focuses on restoring balance and optimizing health through personalized care, emphasizing whole foods, nutrient density, and lifestyle changes.
Jessica’s passion for holistic nutrition stems from her own struggles with chronic health issues, which led her to leave her final year of a psychology degree. After years of seeking answers from doctors, she decided to become the support she needed, offering guidance to others facing similar challenges. Through her work with the Stigma-Free Mental Health Society, she advocates for the connection between mental and physical health, aiming to break the stigma around both.
From the perspective of addition instead of restriction, Jessica encourages a non-restrictive approach that supports a diverse microbiome, prevents deficiencies, and fosters a healthy relationship with food. Her goal is to help clients achieve lasting wellness with a focus on mental and physical well-being, creating a safe and inclusive space for all.

Stress-Reducing Nutritional Strategies: Recommending foods that support the body’s stress response, such as magnesium-rich greens, omega-3 fatty acids, or adaptogenic herbs. Promoting regular eating patterns to stabilize blood sugar and reduce mood swings.
Gut-Brain Connection Support: Identifying and addressing imbalances in gut health since gut microbiota significantly influence mental health. Offering strategies to improve digestion, like meal timing, hydration, and stress reduction during meals.
Anti-Inflammatory Approaches: Recommending foods and nutrients that reduce inflammation, which is often linked to mental health challenges like depression and anxiety and physical health challenges. Avoiding extreme elimination diets and focusing on inclusion.
Collaborative Goal-Setting: Partnering with clients to create achievable, incremental goals related to diet and lifestyle, emphasizing flexibility and self-compassion.
Lifestyle Integration: Supporting clients with stress management techniques and emotional health focused on mind-body connection, exercise and physical activity, sleep optimization, supplementation and herbs, building social health through community and connections, and cultivating a healing mindset. This may include education and empowerment -- for example, teaching clients how food impacts mental health to empower them to make informed choices, and helping dispel myths about restrictive diets or fad nutrition trends.
